Anesthesiology Sites
GASNet -This site is run out of Yale and has some pretty good online texts, a virtual library, and some links to major anesthesia journals online. It may not be the most useful page in the world for students, but it may have a thing or two in ther if you are interested in going into anesthesia.
Mining Co: Anesthesiolgy -This is an anesthesia site run by the search site www.miningco.com. It has a lot of information, including recent news and views in the specialty of anesthesia.
Regional Anesthesia -A really good site describing techniques involved in the administration of regional anesthesia. Great for impressing the attendings with your knowledge!
Worldwide Anesthesia Info Server (WAIS) -Huge database linking together thousands of anesthesiologists, what institution they work at, what papers they've written, and what meetings they are speaking at. A great way to do some background research on a program director you want to impress.
Dermatology Sites
DermDigest -This is more of a layman's type site. But it can be helpful for explaining the answers to those inevitable "rash" questions you get when anyone finds out you're a med student.
Electronic Textbook of Dermatology -Supurb site with more information about dermatology than I ever want to know.
Emergency Medicine Sites
Global Emergency Medicine Archives -Large compilation of articles and letters from ED heads regarding a wide variety of Emergency Medicine Issues.
Family Medicine Sites
Guide to Clinical Preventive Services -Not very pretty, but has a heck of a lot of useful preventative car info straight from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force.
Outpatient Management Manual -Very student-oriented site that effectively helps out when you get that patient in clinic that you have no idea what to with. Written by the FM dept. at LSUMC-Shreveport.
Primary Care Internet Guide -This site has the most links to everything FM I've ever seen in my life. Enough said.
Internal Medicine Sites
12 Lead EKG Library -Good self teaching site with many normal and abnormal EKG's to read.
Asthma guide for Clinicians -Excellent site. Everyone should have to read this a thousand times before doing your ER rotation as an intern.
Cardionet -Pretty good educational site journal links, exhibitions, and news from the wolrd of cardiology.
Neurology Sites
Neurologist Online -Effectively teaches about all that neurologists do. Even has updates on diseases and how they are being treated.
Obstetrics & Gynecology Sites
OB/GYN Net -This site has info on EVERYTHING to do with Ob/Gyn. Interactive tools, Image library, Fetal monitoring tutorials....the list goes on and on.
Obstetric Ultrasound -Tons of pictures of those fuzzy black and white things.
Pap Test -Goes into great detail to expain everything you wanted to know about Dr. Papanicolaou and his famous smear.
Radiology Sites
U of Washingtin Radiology Teaching Files -A+, If I had know about this site earlier I'd have gone into this fine specialty.
